My recent body of work entitled the “Doubles Series” explores ideas related to the doppelganger and the genetic twin. The images are created using drawing and printmaking to combine the mechanical and the physical aspects of mark making. The juxtaposition of the techniques and images relate to what is culturally considered authentic or duplicitous –the former meaning genuine, real, not copied, and the latter meaning two-fold or double and also deceitful. As an artist and an identical twin, I am interested in the cultural and scientific discussion of how genetic and environmental factors shape our identities and physical bodies.
